If you’ve ever wanted to sew but felt too intimidated to even turn on a machine — these classes are for you.
In Learn to Sew I, you’ll start from the very beginning: threading the machine, sewing straight seams, and building lasting confidence with hands-on guidance and encouragement.
Then in Learn to Sew II, you’ll take the next step with your first commercial pattern — learning to read, cut, and sew it with confidence.
This beginner-friendly class is the perfect place to start. We begin with the absolute basics — how to safely use the sewing machine, sew straight seams, and gain confidence from the very first stitch.
By the end, your child will have basic sewing skills, a finished project they’re proud of, and excitement to keep creating!
Join our Garment Fundamentals class and learn the skills every garment maker needs – from reading patterns and perfecting fit to adding beautiful finishing details!
Always wanted to make a quilt but didn’t know where to start?
This series is designed for the true beginner. We’ll start at the very beginning — learning to cut, piece, quilt, and bind — one simple step at a time. With clear instruction and plenty of encouragement, you’ll see just how doable quilting can be!
Our Learn To Sew Series is perfect for the maker who is ready to build confidence at their sewing machine! We have options for both children and adults. You’ll learn the basics of using a sewing machine, including essential techniques like threading, sewing seams, and troubleshooting common issues that may arise.
Our Kids Classes are designed to help young makers build skills, grow confidence, and have fun creating!
Once students complete Learn to Sew I, they can advance into Learn to Sew: Beyond the Basics.
After completing the Learn to Sew Series, students can explore our other classes such as Fashion Fundamentals, Fashion Tweens & Teens, and Quilt Academy.
Our adult sewing classes are designed to help you build the skills you need to tackle a wide variety of projects with ease. Whether your goal is to create your own clothing, bags, quilts, or alterations, you’re in the right place.
We are dedicated to helping you succeed and will work with you every step of the way to ensure you feel confident and comfortable behind the machine.

I started Thimble Bee’s in 2009 to share my love and joy for sewing with the next generation. I’m so blessed to have met so many families in the Charlotte area and I’m glad you’re here. I hope you find Thimble Bee’s a comfortable place to learn, be encouraged, and grow in your skill every day.
