KNOT AND THREAD DUFFEL BAG

If you’ve been wanting to make a bag but aren’t sure where to start, this class is for you. Over nine weeks, we’ll work through the Knot + Thread Duffel Bag together, one step at a time. I’ll demonstrate each part of the process, answer your questions, and help you through any spots that feel tricky.

By the end of class, you’ll have a finished duffel bag and the confidence to tackle more bag projects on your own.

During this class, you will learn to:

• Read and interpret a bag pattern
• Cut fabric and apply stabilizers
• Install zippers with confidence
• Create and apply binding
• Work with webbing and hardware
• Construct the bag exterior and lining
• Assemble the duffel bag from start to finish
• Add the finishing details for a clean, professional look

Bag making is a little different than garment sewing or quilting, and that’s what makes it so much fun. You’ll learn techniques you can use again and again, and you’ll leave with a duffel bag that’s ready for your next class, retreat, or weekend away.

In our bag classes, you’ll:

• Understand interfacing, structure, and layers (and why they matter)
• Get comfortable sewing through multiple layers and heavier fabrics
• Learn techniques for clean seams, strong straps, and polished finishes
• Build skills you’ll use again on future bags and projects
