KNOT AND THREAD DUFFEL BAG
If you’ve been wanting to make a bag but aren’t sure where to start, this class is for you. Over nine weeks, we’ll work through the Knot + Thread Duffel Bag together, one step at a time. I’ll demonstrate each part of the process, answer your questions, and help you through any spots that feel tricky.
By the end of class, you’ll have a finished duffel bag and the confidence to tackle more bag projects on your own.
During this class, you will learn to:
- Read and interpret a bag pattern
- Cut fabric and apply stabilizers
- Install zippers with confidence
- Create and apply binding
- Work with webbing and hardware
- Construct the bag exterior and lining
- Assemble the duffel bag from start to finish
- Add the finishing details for a clean, professional look
Bag making is a little different than garment sewing or quilting, and that’s what makes it so much fun. You’ll learn techniques you can use again and again, and you’ll leave with a duffel bag that’s ready for your next class, retreat, or weekend away.

POOLSIDE TOTEBAG | Returning Spring 2027
Bag sewing shouldn’t feel overwhelming—but thick layers, structure, and unfamiliar steps often make it feel that way. These classes are here to change that.
In our bag classes, you’ll:
- Learn how bags are actually built, not just follow directions
- Understand interfacing, structure, and layers (and why they matter)
- Get comfortable sewing through multiple layers and heavier fabrics
- Learn techniques for clean seams, strong straps, and polished finishes
- Build skills you’ll use again on future bags and projects
We take things step by step. We slow it down. We talk through the why. And we troubleshoot together—so you’re not guessing or stuck.
You’ll walk away with:
- A bag you’ll really use
- Skills that carry into future bag and sewing projects
- Confidence to try the next one on your own
Machines ready. Tools on hand. Guidance throughout.
