Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to bring my own machine?

We provide students with a sewing machine and equipment to use during class. But, you’re welcome to bring your own, if you’d like!

Does my child need to take LTS before attending other classes/workshops at Thimble Bee’s?

Yes! We strongly recommend that students dive into our Learn To Sew Series before joining our Kids/Teens Fashion classes. Our LTS series is designed to teach the basics of sewing, including how to use a sewing machine, how to properly cut and pin fabric, and how to keep consistent seam allowances. These skills are essential for success in our Kids/Teens Fashion Class, where students will be creating their own garments from scratch.

What kind of classes are available once my child completes LTS?

After completing Learn to Sew I Kids, your child can move on to one of the following classes:

  1. Learn to Sew: Beyond the Basics (7-12 years old) – This class focuses on building foundational skills with fun, beginner-friendly projects that rotate every six weeks, such as drawstring bags, pocket pillows, and bedside organizers. It’s designed to reinforce what they’ve learned and help them gain confidence with new sewing techniques.
  2. Fashion Class (9-16 years old) – Ideal for students who want to explore garment-making, this class introduces more complex sewing skills and guides them through creating wearable pieces. Perfect for those looking to take their sewing to the next level!

Additionally, we offer various workshops throughout the year and special Teacher Workday Sessions for students looking to tackle shorter projects or try out new techniques. These one-day classes are a great opportunity for students to expand their skills in a fun, low-pressure environment. Whether they want to experiment with new fabrics, create seasonal items, or spend a productive day off school, there’s always something creative happening!
